This act ultimately caused him to lose his Firstborn status. Seemingly, the stone would appear to have a negative connotation, however it’s actually positive, as it serves as a reminder to compel one to repent fully like Reuben. Therefore, a Ruby representing the tribe of Reuben is celebrated as a badge of honor, as it was still the 1st stone on the Breastplate, a constant reminder of that all humans have the ability to change for the good.
